The book we will read for July’s Book Club is The Day the World Came to Town by Jim DeFede. This is a book about the events of September 11, and how 38 jetliners bound for the United States were forced to land at Gander International Airport in Canada because of the closing of U.S. airspace on September 11. The population of this small town on Newfoundland Island swelled from 10,300 to nearly 17,000 people that day. And the citizens of Gander met the stranded passengers with an overwhelming display of friendship and goodwill.

Our next book club meeting will be on Monday night, July 8th at 7:00 PM. We will meet on Monday night instead of Tuesday for this month only, so that those who participate in J1 will be able to still attend Book Club.
