Christmas

In this show, the Chapel Creatives is excited to bring a meditative focus on the Word of God, the Bible. one subtitle for this show is “What the Bible says about itself.” Quite amazingly, the Bible often appeals (in a “breaking the 4th wall” sort of way) to us, the readers & listeners. In a dramatic way, it brings us to new levels of awareness as to its nature, efficacy, and purpose in the redemptive plan of God. It likens itself to an illuminating light, to a protective sword, to nutritious food, to life-giving rain, etc. while simultaneously insisting that it is not dry communication but rather “alive and active” and under the direction of the Holy Spirit in our lives today.

Much of this attention it brings to itself might be attributed to the fact that God’s word is generative. It created the world (see Genesis 1) and continues to transform and renew the minds of His children as they walk by faith. As we appropriate and put our trust in what God says, we learn more and more about his faithfulness and gentle care for us. Jesus leaves no doubt about his opinion of the Father’s word as he prayed for His disciples—”Sanctify them in the truth, your word is truth.”

Thank you for giving your time and attention to this exhibit and more importantly our prayer is that the Word of God will more and more become a daily joy to you. Jeremiah 15:16— “Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart…”

"Incarnation Through a Child’s Play”

By Sharon Williamson

During our playtime my granddaughter’s placement of Duplo and Little People characters created a thoughtful reflection for me

Photograph 1: The manger scene “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son.” - Galatians 4:4 In the fullness of time: Jesus’ first coming in the flesh was as Savior. Now, we wait for His second coming when He will reign as King of kings and Lord of lords and unite all things in Him.

Photograph 2: The Animals Th domestic/farm animals are eating together, and the untamed/wild animal is sitting with the baby Jesus. A reminder that God cares for the “aid” and “untamed” among us and His salvation is available to them. This scene also reminds me that all of creation, even the wild animals, points to our Savior.

Photograph 3: Image of All Gathered “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.” - Ephesians 1:7-10

All the redeemed - from years ago in Bible times, today, and for future generations - worshipping together the incarnate Lord Jesus Christ!

"The Glories of Immanuel"

By Isaac Watts

Ere blue was stretched abroad,

From everlasting was the Word

With God he was; the Word was God,

And must divinely be adored

Angels leave their abode

To learn new mysteries here and tell

The loves of our descending God

The glories of Immanuel

The glories of Immanuel

But lo! he leaves heaven’s forms,

The Word descends and dwells in clay,

That he may hold conversation with us,

Dressed in such feeble flesh as men.

With joy behold his face,

The eternal Father’s only Son;

How full of truth! how full of grace!

When through his eyes the Godhead shone.

I wanted to convey in this painting God’s exuberance in the birth of His son

“Virgin Mary and Christ Child”

By Ellen Sinclair

I had the pleasure of visiting the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth several years ago. This church is built over the home of the Virgin Mary. Around the walls of the upper church are colorful representations of the Virgin Mary in a variety of materials, presented by many countries. Each country’s Virgin and Christ Child was represented as one of their own and dressed in native costume. These had a profound impact on me. here I have depicted the Virgin Mary and Christ child as I see them.

This is a print. The original is hanging at Eastern Shore chapel Espicopal Church on Laskin Rd in the Children’s Chapel

"Incarnation Song"

By Matt Navarro

Verse 1

A long time ago you said her offspring was gonna come
To bruise the serpents head and cause our Fathers curse to be undone

But Cain he killed Abel and he too was exiled
Through their next song will this promise be reconciled

Pre-Chorus 1

You told me that I’d see, this promised offspring

The serpents Reckoning, you told me that I’d see

Verse 2

Through Abram’s seed you said all nations would be blessed

To Him and his offspring you established through your Covenant

But a star was to come from Jacob and scepter from Israel

Pre-Chorus 2

You told me that I’d see, this promised offspring

The serpents Reckoning, you told me that I’d see

Chorus

When to us will this child you promised

When for us will the virgin conceive

Immanuel God with us

Our counselor and prince of peace

Oh when shall the star of Jacob come forth

When will grow the righteous root

When shall this offspring come
And bring us back and bring us back to you

Verse 3

Now David he came and was our righteous King

A promise you gave again of an offspring

of mine you’d call whose kingdom would last forever

But Solomon traded for earthly pleasure

Pre-chorus 3

You told me that I’d see, this promised offspring

The serpents Reckoning, you told me that I’d see

Chorus

When to us will this child you promised

When for us will the virgin conceive

Immanuel God with us

Our counselor and prince of peace

Oh when shall the star of Jacob come forth

When will grow the righteous root

When shall this offspring come
And bring us back and bring us back to you

Bridge 1

What is this I’ve heard the shepherd say

Of the good news brought to them that day

An angel had appeared to them that night

And since that time how they glorified

Now a child from a virgin came

To me on his 8th day

Could this be a new creation
Could this be that Messiah’s come

Bridge 2

For unto us a child is born

Unto us a son is given

And this shall be a sign to you

A baby born in Bethlehem

So come worship do not be afraid x2
